VEGAN AWARENESS & FOOD SECURITY
This is our main program that promotes vegan diets as a path toward food security, better health, and compassion for animals in communities affected by long-term war. We build agroforestry vegetable gardens, provide nutrition education and culinary training, and organize awareness programs across North Kivu to reduce reliance on animals used for food and bushmeat.
Community Education & Culinary Training
We organize awareness sessions in communities and schools to promote vegan food, animal welfare, and environmental protection. As ongoing war has led to significant habitat loss, deforestation, and displaced animals, we raise community knowledge on the importance of protecting both the environment and animals.
Through nutrition education and culinary training, participants learn to prepare affordable vegan meals that provide the best nutrition possible while reducing consumption of animals and bushmeat (wild animals caught for food).
Support for Vulnerable Children
We support the most vulnerable children and orphans by distributing school kits with educational materials. During these programs, students and teachers also learn about plant-based eating, animal welfare, and environmental protection.
Agroforestry and Vegetable Gardens
We build small and large-scale agroforestry vegetable gardens in schools, communities, and orphanages to reduce hunger and increase access to nutritious plant-based food. Families and students grow their own fresh produce.
Thrive Africa Vegan School Lunch Campaign
We participate in the Thrive Africa Vegan School Lunch Campaign, an Africa-wide initiative to increase accessibility to plant-based options. IPPE coordinates the campaign across DRC, supporting schools in adopting plant-based menus with nutritious, locally grown vegan options for one week.
Eat Vegan Program
Our Eat Vegan Program brings plant-based advocacy into public spaces through food tastings and community events. These activities connect vegan choices with better health, compassion for animals, and care for the environment.
